As the vibrant colours of summer begin to fade and the crisp air of autumn sets in, here at Rove Knitwear, we are busy preparing for the upcoming season. Our London-based studio is buzzing with activity as we embark on the production of our knitted accessories and homeware, ensuring that each piece meets our high standards of quality and craftsmanship.

At Rove, we take pride in the hands-on approach to our design and production process. Whenever possible, we hand make our accessories in-house, right here in our London studio. It is here that we house two trusty domestic knitting machines, which may appear dated in their appearance but continue to be the workhorses behind our beautiful scarves. With each intricate pattern, colour change, and shape adjustment, we have complete control over every element of our products. This level of control allows us to create unique and refreshing designs that truly stand out.

However, some accessories in our collection, such as socks and gloves, require specialised machinery to achieve the most professional finish. For these pieces, we turn to our trusted factory located in the North of England. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit the factory and meet the skilled team involved in the production of our range. It was my second visit since we started working together back in 2014, and I must say, witnessing the expansion of their premises was a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship they bring to our collaboration.

Being in a "behind the scenes" environment and gaining a deeper understanding of the manufacturing process is always an exciting experience. Observing the intricate machinery at work and learning about its functionalities helps us navigate the limitations and possibilities of industrial-style manufacturing. This knowledge allows us to design with intention, ensuring that our products maintain the highest level of quality while still reflecting the unique Rove aesthetic.
